Open the most recently deployed Deep Freeze workstation installation or configuration (.rdx) file.

Open the Deep Freeze Administrator on the current server.

We had setup thaw times for the labs in the Deep Freeze Console (I think that's what it was called) every night for patching the OS and AV, though AV would patch automatically when the machines booted, even when they were frozen. Anything like ransomware or any compromise using the frozen machine as a pivot further into the network is unmitigated by the endpoint without AV. Deep Freeze doesn't protect any resource, not even the machine it is installed on, from more than simple malware, and it only protects the asset it is on AFTER a reboot. The machines absolutely needed AV on them. and we used Deep Freeze in the computer labs. I'm a touch biased towards our own AV since it's going to be able to update while the machine is frozen - but most 3rd party stuff can work once you get a maintenance window configured so that updates can happen on an ongoing basis. Once you do that it's gone, but if you have any other machine sitting around that's infected you could wind up with it just jumping machine to machine. In the case of something infecting the machine over the network you could still have the virus sitting on a frozen machine hanging out, infecting other machines, up until you reboot it. If you have any Thawed location accessible from a protected machine there is a potential for something to jump in there and do some damage since we don't do anything to protect a drive that you have thawed, or network drives for example.Д®ven if the machine isn't going to be having a thawed space on it you should still have a AV package there to catch anything that might infect the machine - reboot to restore software generally doesn't do anything until you reboot the system.

We always recommend that you have some form of AV software installed on the system.
